Spring 1- Marvellous Me

Our topic this half term is Marvellous Me. We are learning about the human body and ways to keep ourselves healthy. We have enjoyed listening to our heart beats, trying a range of healthy fruit and vegetables and conducting experiments with exercise.

Mondays- On Monday's Merlin class are going to be swimming; the children are working on a range of different skills including swimming with a float, blowing bubbles in the water and floating on their backs.

Thursdays- We are fortunate to have Miss Keast in to teach us PE. Merlin's have been learning to throw and catch a ball as well as passing.

Fridays- We have a coach from Cornwall Cricket come to school to work with Merlin class teaching us a sequence of skills that we can use in a cricket match.

Home reading- please make sure that your child is reading a minimum of three times per week. Reading books are changed on a Monday and Thursday and sharing books are changed on a Thursday.

Autumn 2- Victorians

We are looking forward to comparing our lives with that of a Victorian child. We will also be performing our Christmas Nativity.

Welcome back!

We hope that you have all had a fun summer. A little bit of information about our class. Miss Jane, Mrs Bunt, Mrs May, Mrs Roberts and Mrs Willcocks will be the adults in the classroom this year.

PE

PE will be needed on a Thursday and Friday. We are fortunate to have Miss Keast in to deliver our PE sessions this year as well as swimming next term.

Home Learning

At the start of term home learning challenges were sent home along with a topic overview ( a copy of both of these documents can be found further down our class page).

Spellings will be sent home on a Monday and tested on a Friday. We are following a great scheme that makes learning spellings fun with games included.

We encourage children to read daily. Children will have two school books, the first that they read to you will be changed on a Monday and Thursday. The second book is for you to enjoy reading to your child and will be changed on a Thursday. Please make sure books are not lost and are returned to school for all children to enjoy.
