We are a mixed Year 5/6 class, who are really looking forward to learning lots of new things this year! In our class we immerse ourselves in our learning linking most to our current topic.  To see what parts of the curriculum we are learning about in each topic please look at our Curriculum Leaflet. We will be sharing our most memorable moments and new knowledge with you on this class page every step of the way.

Any information should be found on here as we will update it regularly. If you have any questions about being in Osprey class please do not hesitate to come and see us or send an email.

We hope you enjoy watching us learn...

Spring 1 - Stranded

This half term we have been busy exploring the concept of being 'stranded' on a remote island. Some questions we have been considering included: What will we need to survive? How will we navigate around the island? What will we find on the island? What could we make using the resources we find on an island? How would we feel being stranded? Can we build our own shelters? Why do we need a shelter?

The children have also been learning features of a river and how if we can purify water to drink for survival!

Spring 1 - Stranded linked to Kensukes Kingdom

What do you do when you are stranded? Build a shelter!

This term we have learned about Materials and their properties linking it to our topic Stranded. We began by making our own mixtures, then solutions. After that we had to create a sieve to seperate the mixture, proving it is a reversible reaction. We purified salt water to ensure we could survive on an island! A reversible reaction. Finally, we mixed Bicarbonate of Soda and vinegar to show a irreversible reaction. It was very smelly!
