Creating Our Own Ancient Greece-inspired Oil Lamps

Future Scientists!

Welcome to Kestrel Class.

About us:

The teaching staff in Kestrel class will be Mr Keast and Miss Cox

The term ahead:

We have a very exciting and enriching curriculum planned for this term, beginning with our topic 'Ancient Greece' . During the term we are fortunate to benefit from a coach from Plymouth Argyle coming to support the children's PE. Kestrel class will continue to benefit from a weekly Spanish lesson.

Reading will be a particular focus for homework in Kestrel class, children who achieve five reads in a week (Friday to Friday) will be rewarded with an additional turn in the prize box on a Friday. We have taken care in supporting the children to select a book suitable to their reading capabilities and they are encouraged to return this when they have finished the book so that the teaching staff can support them in choosing another book. Kestrel class will need to bring their reading books and reading records to school daily in order for in class reading to take place.

Spellings will be sent home for children to learn on a Monday and in class assessment using a range of forms will take place on a Friday. Maths challenges will be sent home on a weekly basis and will support learning taking place that week.

Additionally children will have their half termly home learning challenges which are linked to their topic learning.

PE Kits:

Kestrel class will require their PE kits on a Monday and Thursday of each, as previously mentioned the children will benefit, during the first half term, a coach from Plymouth Argyle coming to facilitate the children's learning.

Dojo is now established in Kestrel class and works alongside team points and our class behaviour chart. Dojo is updated with pieces of your child's learning and extra-curricular activities around school. Photos and information trips can be added. There is a whole class page and pupils individual pages (individual pages can only be seen by parents of that child). You child will only be able to log into Dojo and change their avatar once their parent./carer has logged in. If you require an additional copy of log in details for yourself or your child/children please ask.
